<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a process of forming via holes in a reflective liquid crystal display by disposing at least two layers of metal light shielding films between a semiconductor substrate and a plurality of pixel electrodes for reflection. <P>SOLUTION: First and second metal light shielding films 28, 33 with insulating films 27, 32, 29 layered on and under each film are formed between a semiconductor substrate 11 and a plurality of reflective pixel electrodes 30 so as to prevent part of the readout light L entering a liquid crystal 40 from a transparent substrate 42 side through a counter electrode 41 from leaking to a switching element side 14 when the light intrudes from an opening 30a formed between the adjacent reflective pixel electrodes 30 into a third interlayer insulating film 29. The opening 30a formed between adjacent reflective pixel electrodes 30 is covered with one of the first and second metal light shielding films 28, 33, while one of the first and second metal light shielding films 28, 33 is electrically connected to one switching element 13, one reflective pixel 30 and storage capacitors C1 to C3 through a third via hole Via3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
