<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal projector wherein lowering of contrast due to double refraction of a liquid crystal panel can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: Contrast of an output image can be improved since the original performance of an optical compensation film is maintained in an area 62 of illumination light by forming a corner part of the optical compensation film 60 positioned in the vicinity of the liquid crystal panel into a cut-off part 60a formed by a straight line and having a non-acute angle (obtuse angle). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
