PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating device having a fixed heating means 37, a rotation body 34 of which an inside surface slides on the heating means while rotating, and a pressing member 29 forming a nip N by press-contacting with the heating means through the rotation body, pinching and conveying a material to be heated P between the rotation body at the nip and the pressing member to heat the material to be heated by the heat of the heating means transmitted through the rotation body, eliminating wrinkle of a paper even when using a wide and lengthwise paper with poor elasticity as the material to be heated under a circumstance of high temperature and high humidity. SOLUTION: The heating device has a control means controlling heat distribution of the heating means in a direction of conveying the material to be heated at the nip, and the heat distribution of the heating means, in the case in which the size of the material to be heated is larger than a prescribed size, is made different from the same in the case in which the size is smaller than the prescribed size. When the material with a large size is made to pass, the peak of the temperature distribution of the heating means in the direction of conveying the material to be heated is adjusted so as to locate at a more downstream side of the nip as compared with the case of using the material with a small size.
