PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock positively prevented from being illegally unlocked or the like by picking. SOLUTION: This lock 1 is formed with a keyhole 2, at least one distance sensor 3 disposed in the keyhole 2 to measure a distance to a key 4 inserted in the keyhole 2, and a control part 7 for detecting key ridge shape information based on the measured information of the distance sensor 3 collating it with stored key ridge shape information and locking/unlocking in the case of being coincident. Two or more keys 4 may be inserted in sequence to lock/unlock in the case that all the key ridge shape and insertion order coincide with the stored information, or one key 4 may be inserted a plurality of times to lock/unlock in the case that times of insertions and the direction of the key 4 each time coincide with the stored information.
