PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a trouble of discoloration in a Buddhist altar and Buddhist altar fittings having a gold foil stuck thereon during normal use, due to recent serious air pollution and the spout of a volcanic gas, and to provide a stable gold foil which does not cause such discoloration due to gases. SOLUTION: A metal used for the metallic foil contains mainly gold/palladium or contains mainly gold/palladium/platinum, wherein a ratio of gold/palladium is preferably 0.90/0.10 to 0.998/0.002, and a ratio of gold/platinum is preferably 0.95/0.05 to 0.998/0.002. The metal preferably contains additional 0.001 to 0.05 parts of one, two or three metals selected from silver and copper, with respect to 1.00 part of gold/palladium or gold/palladium/platinum, as a third component.
