PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily break a chip, which is formed by the cutting operation due to the relative movement between a workpiece and a cutting tool, in the state where the chip is connected to the workpiece yet. SOLUTION: When pistons in a first cylinder and a second cylinder are in the most receded end positions, a fling rod 74 is located at an original position P0. Then, the fling rod 74 is moved to a first position P1 by operating the first cylinder, and then is moved to a position P2 by operating the second cylinder along the longitudinal direction. At this time, the fling rod 74 is located inside the curved portion Wc of a chip Wa. Then, the fling rod 74 is moved from the second position P2 to a third position P3 by operating the first cylinder in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. By this movement, the curved portion Wc of the chip Wa is flung outward, and outward bending moment is applied to the curved portion Wc. Consequently, the chip Wa is easily broken.
