<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To warrant uninterruptible switching of ATM buses in a base station modem apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An ATM function section 22 includes a transmission path termination function section 21; an S/P conversion section 35 for performing serial communication; a cell buffer 37 wherein an ATM switch stores an ATM cell; and a cell monitor section 38 for monitoring the ATM cell in the cell buffer to output a 'buffer ENP' signal when no ATM cell is resident in the cell buffer. The transmission path termination function section 21 includes: a P/S conversion section 34 for performing serial communication between the ATM function sections; and a downlink ATM cell switching control section 32 for stopping transmission of an ATM cell to the ATM function section 22 when receiving a switching instruction signal from the active ATM function section 22, setting a predetermined delivery time to the P/S conversion section 34 and the S/P conversion section 35 next, and switching the active ATM function section 22 into a standby state and the standby ATM function section 23 into the active state when receiving the 'buffer ENP' signal from the cell monitor section 38 of the ATM function section 22 after a lapse of the delivery time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
