<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management device which can clarify the development for the deletion of image data concerning that by whom, when, and by what kind of process (procedure), the image data will be deleted. <P>SOLUTION: A first user (document manager) and a second user (document accumulator) are registered to make the document management device usable. By setting a document deletion mode, a document of low use is searched out and the first user is notified as such. The first user sets the document of low use as an unusable document, and notifies the second user as such. The second user, if required, sets so that an unusable document can be changed and set as a usable document.
