<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data input device capable of improving the accuracy of event time which is imparted by an event data temporary storage means. <P>SOLUTION: The data input device for inputting data at the timing of a change of an external signal is provided with an input data decision means for storing the value of determined input data, inputting the input data synchronously with a first clock signal, and when a change occurs as the result of comparison with the value of the determined input data, detecting event occurrence and determining the input data when the input data are not changed for a prescribed period or more. The data input device is also provided with the event data temporary storage means for inputting input data as a sample synchronously with a second clock signal, and when a change occurs as the result of comparison with the determined input data, temporarily storing data obtained by adding time data informed from a master device to the value of the input data synchronously with the second clock signal as event data and transferring the event data to the master device on the basis of determination information from the input data decision means.
