PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an activating method for the electrode of a heat accumulator for allowing heat radiating control from the beginning in the heat accumulator formed by using a heat storage material having sodium acetate trihydrobase which contains silver nitrate and/or silver acetate, comprising electrodes coming in contact with the heat storage material, and at least one of which is a silver electrode. SOLUTION: Solidification is started before the initial heat radiation control by the supply of power to the electrodes in the state of the heat storage material in overcooled state in contact with the silver electrode for solidification treatment.
