PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene-screening method that can easily isolate a gene encoding an objective protein in a shortened time from a gene library encoding proteins with a molecular weight of from several ten to several hundred thousands. SOLUTION: This gene-screening method comprises the following four steps: the first step where the test gene is transferred into cells and the protein is expressed on the surface of the cells; the second step where the cells expressing the protein that is obtained in the first step are connected to magnetic particles through a ligand bonding to the protein and a high polymer; the third step where the magnetic particles connected to the protein-expressing cells are recovered; and the fourth step where the gene that encodes the protein which is expressed on the surface of the cells connected to the magnetic particles is analyzed.
