PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the difference among individuals in workers by accurately determining the relative positional relationship between a rotary shaft of a spindle and an origin setting object of a work when centering the spindle of a machine tool. SOLUTION: This centering device has a camera 12 installed on the spindle 1 and imaging works W, a monitor 30 for displaying the images of the works W, an image processing part 22 for determining the relative positional relationship between the rotary shaft of the spindle 1 and the origin setting object of the work W by processing the image of the work W and a transmitting part 28 for transmitting this relative positional relationship to a preset control device 4 of the machine tool as a preset signal.
