A method of applying a film coating to an end of a container stopper (1) including the steps of: (a) positioning the stopper (1) with the said end adjacent a web (31) of film, (b) cutting from the web (31) a portion of film sized to suit said end of the stopper (1) and (c) bonding the film portion to the end of the stopper (1).
