A connector for hydraulic hoses has a female coupling end (22) which is pushed into the hose and is secured by a ribbed structure. The ribbing is in two separate zones; a smaller diameter zone (30) adjacent to the end (20) of the coupling and a larger diameter zone (31) adjacent to the inner end (25) of the coupling. The two zones correspond to the maximum and minimum diameters of the internal diameter of the hose. The larger diameter zone runs into a stop flange on the coupling.
