PURPOSE: A device and a method for duplexing a DBMS(DataBase Management System) are provided to save expense by duplexing a main memory DBMS through the addition of a log manager without using a commercial DBMS, and enhance the stability of a database by keeping the consistency between duplexed databases and minimizing the duplex data to be transmitted to the DBMS. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a log database(245), a hard disk database(250), a log generator(220), a log controller(230), a backup part(235), and a log transmitter(240). The log generator changes the main memory database when an application program(210) requests the access to the main memory database(205), and generates a log for the changed data. The log controller transmits/stores the log to the log database. The backup part reads the log from the log database and performs the backup of the changed data to the hard disk database depending on the log. The log transmitter transmits a standby DBMS(260) by reading the log from the log database.
