PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laundry dryer connectable to a separate washing machine, which has no useless complexity and determines the most appropriate option for drying prescribed wet laundry based on laundry information received from the washing machine, and an operation method therefor for drying wet laundry to optimize its drying ability and reduce the waste of energy by determining the most appropriate drying option based on its laundry information received from the separate washing machine. SOLUTION: The laundry dryer comprises an interface part connected to the separate washing machine so as to receive the state information on the laundry from it by a data transmission line such as RS232-C, a rotating drum to contain wet laundry already washed and dehydrated by the washing machine, an air supply system connected with the rotating drum to supply its inside with dry air, a heater connected with the air supply system to heat the dry air supplied into the rotating drum, and the dryer controller connected with the heater to control its operation.
