The upper connecting section (3) has a shaft (5) coaxial with the central axis (A) passing through the center of the spring (2), in the direction of loading (B). The shaft passes through a sealed chamber (7) filled with viscous fluid (6). A rigid plate (9) fixed permanently to the shaft extends radially within the chamber leaving an opening (8) (a narrow gap). Axial movement of the chamber is limited by stops (10, 11) and positioning spring sections (12, 13). These hold the chamber in a central axial location between themselves.
