PURPOSE: A method for removing jam of an ink jet printer is provided to prevent a print head from being damaged due to contacting of the print head with paper and to avoid the sticking of ink to the print head by using a head gap adjusting unit. CONSTITUTION: A method for removing jam of an ink jet printer comprises the steps of deciding the generation of jam during printing(S301), increasing the head gap by operating a head gap adjusting unit for adjusting the head gap between a print head and paper(S304), moving an ink cartridge to a home position by operating a drive unit(S305), and deciding the removal of jam(S308).
