An optical sensing device for detecting optical features of valuable papers in disclosed. The device contains first and second fourfold assemblies longitudinally arranged before and behind along a passageway for guiding the transported valuable paper. The first fourfold element has first and second photocoupler s opposed to each other on the opposite sides of the passageway, while the second fourfold element comprising third and fourth photocouplers opposed to each other is arranged on the opposite sides of the passageway. Each of the first, second, third and fourth photocouplers have a light emitting element for emitting a light, and a light receiving element for selectively receiving the light from the light emitting element and reflecting on the valuable paper or penetrating the valuable paper.
