<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-length illuminator which permits uniform light intensity in regard to the longitudinal direction by using a simple constitution even in the case of thin type. <P>SOLUTION: The illuminator 10 is provided with a plurality of LEDs 13 mounted on a long-length substrate 12 standing in a line along the longitudinal direction and a pair of prism plates 15, 16 having polygonal prisms 15a, 16a which are arranged so as to be opposed to each other with the interposed LEDs therebetween and to rise from both side edges in the longitudinal direction of the substrate.
