<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device enhancing use efficiency of light guided to a light guide member by a bar-shaped lens, and improving illumination efficiency with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: This surface light source device 10 comprises the light guide member 11 made of a flat transparent material and whose upper surface or lower surface is a reflecting surface, the bar-shaped lens disposed facing a side face of the light guide member 12, and a light source 14 disposed facing end faces 12b, 12c of the bar-shaped lens. The bar-shaped lens is provided with a light diffusion part diffusing and reflecting the light at least in a longitudinal direction on a side face opposite to the light guide member. A reflecting part 15 is provided on the upper surface or the lower surface of the bar-shaped lens 12 reflecting the incident light from the end faces 12b, 12c at least in the direction of the side face (x direction). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
