<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sulfur poisoning cancellation control apparatus of a catalyst for diesel engines for maintaining catalyst performance by appropriately canceling the sulfur poisoning of the catalyst for diesel engines and preventing the performance of DPFs from decreasing. <P>SOLUTION: The sulfur poisoning cancellation control apparatus comprises a NOx trap catalyst 10 for trapping NOx in exhaust when exhaust air/fuel ratio is lean, and discharging NOx for reduction purification when the exhaust air/fuel ratio becomes rich; a filter 20 that captures PMs in exhaust, burns the PMs for regeneration if the temperature of exhaust increases to the self-ignition temperature of PMs when the exhaust air/fuel ratio is lean; and an air/fuel ratio adjusting means 41 for freely changing the exhaust air/fuel ratio. The air/fuel ratio adjusting means 41 cancels sulfur poisoning by making the exhaust air/fuel ratio rich when a NOx trap catalyst is poisoned by sulphur content in exhaust, and makes the air/fuel ratio lean temporarily during the sulfur poisoning cancellation, burning PMs, and regenerating the filter 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
