PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner which is hardly affected by environmental variation and exhibits good developing performance without fogging or lowering of density at the start of operation even in long-term endurance. SOLUTION: In the toner comprising at least a binder resin, a colorant, a metal-containing organic compound and a sulfur-containing resin, the abundance ratio between the metal element of the metal-containing organic compound and the elementary sulfur of the sulfur-containing resin is 40:60 to 90:10 in the entire toner, and on a toner surface, the abundance ratio measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is 0:100 to 20:80.
