PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter apparatus having uniform load and washing effect in filtering by disposing filter module uniformly in a filter tank and capable of discharging sludge accumulated on the bottom of the filter tank by surely scraping without stirring or dispersing the same. SOLUTION: The filter module 5 are arranged in the filter tank 1 into which raw water W is introduced and an air diffusion means 6 for diffusing air to wash the filter module 5 is arranged under the filter module 5. The filter tank 1 is formed into a rectangular shape on a plan view and a sludge scraping-up means 7, which is made movable in a moving direction F along the sides of the rectangular shape of the filter tank 1 to scrape up sludge M accumulated on the bottom part of the filter tank 1, is provided on the bottom part of the filter tank 1.
