A wallpaper consists of several layers with a pattern of hollow spaces (13) that can be filled with a medium (14). The spaces are formed by regions where the layers are not bonded and can contain channels (16), e.g. made of film. The filling medium (14) can be water, gas or rigid foam. Valves (17) are fitted for filing or emptying or for connecting different regions. Controls can be fitted to give a moving surface. An Independent claim is also included for a manufacturing process for building up surfaces from a number of layers with a bonding medium that is a negative picture of the required structure of hollow spaces.
