ELECTRONIC DATA AUTHENTICATION METHOD, MARK IMAGE GENERATION METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM ISSUING METHOD

It is possible to improve the user-friendliness of an authentication system for authenticating electronic data by using a mark image having a watermark. When a WWW server (5) is accessed by a WWW browser (7), it transmits a Web page and an archive file containing an authentication program a mark image having a watermark to the WWW browser (7). The WWW browser (7) accesses the WWW server (5), receives the Web page together with the archive file, and displays the received Web page. Next, it extracts the mark image having the watermark and the authentication program from the archive file received and executes the authentication program. The authentication program displays the mark image having the watermark on the Web page displayed by the WWW browser (7) and authenticates the displayed Web page by using the electronic watermark information embedded in the mark image having the watermark.
