PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for manufacturing a preform for use in a plastic optical fiber are provided to increase the accuracy of the manufacturing processes by allowing the reaction part to be designed with a material not being relevant to non-transparent to the UV light. CONSTITUTION: In a method for manufacturing a preform for use in a plastic optical fiber, a stranded cable has a diameter which is larger than the diameter of the UV lamp and is small enough not to occur a problem during a thermal process by reinforcing the reaction material with stepwise or continuously introducing it, wherein the reaction material is obtained by changing the monomer and the additive in the rotational reaction chamber and the UV lamp is positioned at the center of the rotational axis of the rotational reaction chamber.
