A tubeless pneumatic tyre assembly comprises a beaded tyre casing 2 mounted on a shouldered wheel rim 3, and an annular rubber sealing means 1 having beaded sealing portions 4 disposed circumferentially on the wheel rim shoulders to abut the toe portions of the tyre beads 7 and thereby prevent escape of air between the tyre beads 7 and the rim 3, the heel portions of the beads 7 resting directly against the rim surface. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the sealing means 1 is a taper-edged moulded one-piece flap shaped to conform with the well-base rim and provided with an inflating valve 6. For use with safety rims, Fig. 5, having recessed shoulders to seat the tyre beads, the flap 1a is formed with hollowed edge portions 12 to fit over the rim beads 11 without excessive projection of the beaded sealing portions of the flap. Fig. 6 shows an arrangement wherein the sealing flap is in two parts 13 cemented to the rim walls 15, one sealing flap part having an inflating valve 16. Fig. 7 shows two annular sealing rings 19, which may be shaped as shown or have oval cross-section, cemented into recesses 18 in the rim shoulders, an inflating valve 23 being secured directly to the rim. |
