PURPOSE: Provided is a herbicide which contains an extract of Ligularia stenocephala M. or a weedkilling material derived therefrom, and is used as a natural agricultural medicine to kill weeds, such as finger grass, barnyard millet and Solanum nigrum. CONSTITUTION: The herbicide comprises an extract of Ligularia stenocephala M., and an agriculturally allowable carrier. The herbicide further comprises benzofuran derivatives of Ligularia stenocephala M., such as 5,6-dimethoxy-2-isopropenylbenzofuran expressed of formula 1, 5,6-dimethoxy-2-acetylbenzofuran of formula 2, 5-acetyl-2-isopropenylbenzofuran of formula 3, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-3-hydroxy-7-(1-methylethenyl)-1-naphthalene carboxaldehyde of formula 4, hydroxy tremethon of formula 5, toxol of formula 6 and hydroxyplatyphyllid of formula 7, and chlorogenic acid derivatives thereof such as 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid, and 3,4-dicaffeoylquinic acid. |
