Method to configure a routing path in an IP router

The method involves selecting a route path towards an IP address by a selecting unit (11), according to a function of received information (20). The selected route path is sent to a route control unit (1) by a router (10). A validation message (22) is sent from the route control unit towards the router for validating the selected route path. The selected route path is configured in the router. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) an IP router, (b) an Internet protocol network.
