The work platform (10) is designed to be sunk so that it rests on the e.g. sea bed (2) next to the object (3) to be salvaged. At least one cable (9) is passed beneath the object using a work platform with a drilling device which is used to drill a rod (6) from one side of the object to the other via the e.g. sea bed. The free end of the drill rod is provided with a drill head (8). A cable is passed through the resulting bore from one side of the object to the other so that it is passed beneath the object.
