FIELD: organic chemistry, medicine, pharmacy. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel 4-substituted piperidines of the general formula (I) ^ ^ wherein R1 and R2 represent substituted or unsubstituted aryl radicals that are prepared as racemic mixtures or pure enantiomers. These compounds and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts inhibit reuptake of serotonin and/or noradrenaline and useful as antidepressants.
