PURPOSE: A plastic optical fiber for absorbing stably ultraviolet rays and a fabricating method thereof are provided to reduce the loss of the optical transmission process by preventing effectively a variation of physical property due to the ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION: A plastic optical fiber for absorbing stably ultraviolet rays includes a core and a clad. The core(1) is surrounded by the clad(2). The plastic optical fiber has a sheath and core type structure. The clad includes Benzotriazole-based ultraviolet absorbing agent and HALS(Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer). The Benzotriazole-based ultraviolet absorbing agent of 0.005 weight percent is added to the clad. The sum of the Benzotriazole-based ultraviolet absorbing agent and the HALS is less than 1 weight percent.
