A spring (24) is provided between the button casing and a sliding part (12). The button includes a membrane switch (16) and the circuit board (15) is located inside the casing so that a principle surface of the circuit board is located in a radial casing plane. A semiconductor component is used as a light emitter (18). Conductors (19) connected to the light emitter extend substantially central and on opposite sides of the switch. The arm (22) on the sliding piece extends inwards in a radial direction between the conductors and in a first position it is located at a distance from the switch actuator (17). The push button comprises an elongated casing housing an elongated sliding piece with a transparent button (5) at one end and a base part at the other end. A spring is provided for returning the button to its original position after being pushed in using a depression device (6). The switch is a free-standing and substantially closed component mounted on the circuit board with an actuator that faces the button. The arm on the sliding piece is designed to depress the actuator. The electric conductors for the circuit board are connected to the switch, light emitter and external power connections.
