[Also in Division E2] In a sliding clasp fastener having interlocking elements of continuous coil form made from thermoplastics material. The inner margins 3 of its stringer tapes 2 are folded over and permanently secured to the interlocking elements by means of adhesive or by welding. The fastener may be moved by a conveyer with adhesive being continuously applied from a container. In a modification the fastener passes beneath electric heaters 6, Fig. 4, and a presser foot 9, to weld the tape margins to the elements. The tape margins may contain thermoplastics threads to facilitate such welding. |
