PURPOSE: A transceiver of a wireless communication system using four transmission antennas is provided to obtain a maximum diversity order and transmission rate without a loss of a transmission rate. CONSTITUTION: A serial/parallel converter(210) groups four inputted symbols(s1-s4) into one block and provides it to a coder(230). Before being inputted to the coder(230), two selected symbols(s1,s4) in the block are rotated by certain phase values &thgr;1 and &thgr;4 by phase rotators(220,225). The coder(230) makes four combinations each including four symbols with the symbols of one block including the phase-rotated two symbols and transfers them to four transmission antennas(240-246) during four time intervals. In order to obtain a maximum diversity order, the coder(230) makes the combinations such that the four inputted complex symbols are transmitted only once at each antenna and each time interval.
