The fan (4) has the radial blades (9) attached at their outer tip to a ring (10). The ring carries permanent magnets (22) to form the rotor for the motor drive to the fan. The stator is outside the ring. The magnets are held in place on the ring by a retaining ring (20) that encloses the permanent magnets. The permanent magnets are made of a polymer material containing magnetized particles.
