PURPOSE: A method for controlling operation of a drive train of a vehicle with a torque split type transmission having the continuously variable gear ratio range and a driving motor and a device thereof are provided to prevent unstable switching of the gear ratio range by mutually converting continuously variable gear ratio ranges with a clutch. CONSTITUTION: An electronic control unit measures the position of a throttle valve, the vehicle speed, and the actual gear ratio of a transmission according to routine(90), and the system compares the difference between the actual gear ratio and the changed gear ratio with the critical value(92). The fluctuation of the position of the accelerator pedal according to time is compared with the critical value of the pedal(94). The predetermined rpm of the engine is calculated(98), and the predetermined gear ratio of the transmission is calculated based on the engine rpm about the vehicle speed(100). The gear ratio of the transmission is modified or predetermined(102).
