PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To longitudinally join a columnar body such as a steel pipe pile mechanically simply and firmly in an unturned manner. SOLUTION: A box joint material 1 is projected at one end of an upper pile (one columnar body) A1, and then a pin joint material 10 fitted to the material 1 is projected at one end of a lower pile (the other columnar body) A2 longitudinally joined with the upper pile A1. Internal and external groove strips 7 and 18 are formed oppositely to joint surfaces 2a and 12a to which both joint materials 1 and 10 are fitted, and engaging keys 20 housed in the internal groove strips 7 of the material 1 are engaged with both the groove strips 7 and 18 by operating set bolts 21 and connected integrally. Mutually joined joining steps 3 and 15 and joining end faces 4 and 14 are formed to both joint materials 1 and 10, pin holes 15 and 17 and pin engaging holes 5 and 6 mutually opposed to the steps 3, 15, 4 and 14 are formed, the engaging pins 20 are inserted into the opposed holes 5, 6, 15 and 17 and both joint materials 1 and 10 are connected irrotationally.
