PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric compressor capable of effectively cooling a semiconductor module. SOLUTION: The electric compressor and a motor for driving the compressor are stored in a casing. A stator 11 of the motor is fixed inside a front case 5 and a rotor 16 connected to a rotating shaft of the compressor is rotatably supported inside the stator. A suction port for refrigerant is provided on the opposite side of the compressor with the motor put between them. A mount portion 100 is provided on an external side wall of the front case 5, where a power semiconductor module 111 is installed. A depression 26a and a communication hole 26b extending outward from both ends of the stator along its axial direction are provided on the mount portion 100 and its inner side wall. The communication hole 26b is open outward from both the ends of the stator 11. The refrigerant sucked into the compressor passes through the depression 26a and the communication hole 26b, thus the power semiconductor module 111 and the stator 11 of the motor are cooled at the same time.
