PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a product against scratches by blowing off thread-like wastes safely, surely and automatically by air at the time of punching. SOLUTION: The air jet device for a turret punch press is constituted so that an air supply system is detected by a light projector and a light receiver of a fiber sensor suspended on a wall window of the turret punch press, that a reflected laser beam from a rotary disk simulating a flywheel of a punch driving source is detected by the light receiver, and that the detection signal is transmitted to a fiber amplifier, with the opening/closing of a air flow passage controlled by an air jet control system. The air supply system is equipped with a regulator for adjusting the pressure of the air supplied by a compressor or an accessorial compressor of the turret punch press, a solenoid valve for opening/closing the air flow passage, an air hose for feeding air from the solenoid valve to a workpiece, and an air nozzle attachable to the tip end of the air hose. The air jet control system is equipped with a signal transmission circuit for inputting in a relay the signal transmitted to the fiber amplifier, the relay for switching an electromagnetic circuit in accordance with the presence/absence of input by the reception of a detection signal, and a solenoid valve operated by the switching of the electromagnetic circuit.
