PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization device and method capable of presenting satisfactory sterilization effect without elevating a running cost. SOLUTION: In the sterilization device and method, water is allowed to flow down via a water inlet/outlet port 11 in the state that silver ion elution parts 20, 30 and an activated water treatment part 40 are housed in a tube body 10. Therefore, the performance of sterilization is synergistically enhanced by means of sterilization accompanied by the elution of silver, sterilization of the city water subjected to activated water treatment and the suppression of slime which changes to a hotbed of bacteria.
