PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wasting a necessary material by reducing an occupation space of a soundproof material 12 for an air conditioner, while obtaining the necessary soundproofing effect, in regard to a soundproof material for an air conditioner having the multi-layered structure formed by laminating at least a sound absorbing material 13 and a sound shutting material 14 outside the sound absorbing material 13 to cover at least the periphery of a compressor 6 of the air conditioner. SOLUTION: As the sound absorbing material 13, foam urethane having 0.05-0.30g/cm<SP>3</SP>density is used. Thickness t1 of a part of the sound absorbing material 13 positioned at a nearly intermediate part in the longitudinal direction of a compressor casing 8 is formed larger than the thickness t2 of other parts.
