PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which allows a safe handsfree call by automatically transmitting information on the current status to the party on the other end when the remaining distance to a destination reaches a predetermined distance. SOLUTION: One's own name and remaining distance to a destination at which transmission by a cellular phone 13 is started are inputted in advance from an operation unit 1, and are stored in a memory 6. A controller 2 searches a map and a telephone number recording medium for the location of a destination by a telephone number, stores the searched location in the memory 6 as a destination, and stores the number used for the search in the memory 6 as a transmitting end. When transmission to a different telephone number other than the one used for the search is desired, the telephone number is inputted from the operation unit 1, and is stored in the memory 6 as a telephone number of a transmitting end. When the position detected by the controller 2 using a GPS unit 4 becomes within the remaining distance inputted, transmission to the telephone number of the stored transmitting end is made.
