PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting/ending system for a continuous inkjet printer, which carries out starting/ending of the printer in a manner eliminating undesired ink from the same. SOLUTION: The system 100 has a discharge groove fluidically communicating with a catcher 74 formed of a porous member. The catcher 74 functions to catch the ink discharged from a print head, and negative pressure sources 68, 76 function to introduce the caught ink to an ink recovering system 66 via the discharge groove. Further the system 100 has a porous element 102 fluidically communicating with a cleaning chamber 116. The cleaning chamber 116 and the porous element 102 are arranged so as to be adjacent to an ink supply source 14 and a nozzle plate 40. The porous element 102 absorbs the undesired ink from a surface of the nozzle plate 40. Further the system is comprised of a negative pressure source 104, for drawing the absorbed ink out from the porous element 102 via the cleaning chamber 116. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
