PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver for driving a liquid crystal, which fixes an input terminal and an output terminal for data to a two-way common driver and can change the shift direction of data even after LCD panel mounting, and its driving method. SOLUTION: The driver is provided with: the input terminal 11 for inputting input data; the output terminal 12 for outputting output data separately from a two-way common driver 13 having 1st and 2nd input/output terminals DYIO1 and DYIO2 whose input/output relation can be reversed according to a shift direction controlled with a control signal; input switching means (14, 15) of inputting the input data from the input terminal 11 selectively to one of the 1st and 2nd input/output terminals; and an output selecting meas 16 of selectively guiding and outputting output data, outputted from the other input/output terminal different from the one input/output terminal to which the input data are inputted by the input switching means among the 1st and 2nd input/output terminals, to the output terminal 12. Consequently, the input terminal and output terminal for the data are fixed and control signal contents are only changed to easily change the shift direction of the two-way common driver 13.
