PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high conveying accuracy without being affected by processed shape accuracy of a drive roller for conveying and driving media on which images are formed and the property of the media on which images are formed. SOLUTION: The media conveying device is equipped with the drive roller B5 that conveys the media M on which images are formed by driving and rotating while holding the media M in the outer periphery. To convey media forming width W for one main scanning of an ink jet head H, for example, six consecutive times, rotation-drive amount (the number of drive pulses) of each time to rotate the drive roller 5 at a predetermined initial angle is set on the basis of an actual value. The media M are intermittently conveyed by applying the rotation-drive amount of each time sequentially from the state where the drive roller 5 is at the initial angle and intermittently rotating and driving the drive roller B5. After the drive roller B5 is rotated and driven by applying the set rotation-drive amount of the last time, the drive roller B5 is idly rotated without conveying the media M, and is returned to be at the initial angle.
