PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet member winding apparatus that allows a choice between a touch-roll mode to tightly roll up a sheet member and a side-plate mode to loosely roll up the sheet member according to use conditions and prevents winding deviation after cutting the sheet member. SOLUTION: The sheet member winding apparatus has a winding touch roll 4, a pair of side plates 5, and a presser roll 6 shorter than a winding core 2, placed between the side plates 5. The apparatus can shift the operating modes between a touch-roll winding mode A to roll up the sheet member 1 on the winding core 2 with the side plates 5 and the presser roll 6 in the retreat positions 5a and 6a and the winding touch roll 4 in the press position 4b, and a side plate winding mode B to roll up the sheet member 1 on the winding core 2 with the winding touch roll 4 in the retreat position 4a and the side plates 5 in the restricted position 5b.
