PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a sealing property of a metallic casing and reduce the number of fastening bolts by changing a structure of a metallic cover. SOLUTION: This metallic casing for an electric appliance mounted in a vehicle has a skirt part 1b perpendicular to a flange face at a tip end of a jointing flange 1a of a metallic cover 1. The skirt part 1b is provided in a manner to cover a lateral end face of a cover fixing face 2a of a metallic case 2. Because a shielding member, namely the skirt part 1b exists on lateral end faces of the jointing flange 1a and the cover fixing face 2a, a shielding property against electromagnetic noises is improved, so as to reduce a number of fastening bolts. That is to say, a structure is simply changed in a manner that the skirt part 1b is provided to the metallic cover 1, so that the electromagnetic noises generated from the electric appliance installed inside the metallic casing can be effectively prevented from leaking.
