PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-grade printing without lowering image quality by suppressing the generation of banding caused by the cumulative error of paper feed. SOLUTION: A printer is equipped with a printing head 28 equipped with a nozzle array consisting of a plurality of nozzles, the main scanning drive part 3 of the printing head 28, a printing head driving part 5 driving the nozzles selected from the nozzle array, a sub-scanning drive part 4 feeding a printing medium 8 in a sub-scanning direction and a drive part control part 2 controlling the main scanning drive part 3, the sub-scanning drive part 4 and the printing head driving part 5 to apply printing to the printing medium 8 by the printing head 28. When the printing by constant pitch sub-scanning printing or overlap printing is performed by the control of the drive part control part 2, dots are printed in adjacent relationship between two dots easy to generate banding by nozzles not used in a relevant printing mode.
